Osteopathy and Exercise Therapy in Guernsey
Working as an Osteopath in Guernsey for the last 2 years, I have had the privilege of helping a broad spectrum of people suffering from musculoskeletal aches and pains. During this time I have combined Osteopathic treatment with Sports and Exercise Therapy to help people make a thorough recovery from pain and injury, as well as improve their movement, strength and confidence.
Conditions I have successfully treated include sports injuries, osteoarthritis, pre & post orthopaedic surgery and persistent low back pain. My success has come as a result of combining my knowledge of healthcare and exercise to, not only, manage and reduce pain, but also improve quality of movement, strength and confidence through delivering tailored exercise therapy.
Exercise Therapy may improve your condition better than other therapies
Manual therapies such as Osteopathy, Physiotherapy and Chiropractic can be very effective in treating musculoskeletal aches and pains, however better outcomes can be achieved with the addition of supervised exercise therapy. Exercise therapy provides a safe and effective progression from manual therapy and is essential for regaining movement capacity, strength, co ordination, stability, confidence and protecting the body from re-injury.
I have encountered many people who have expressed a loss of physical ability and confidence in their body since suffering from injury or undergoing orthopaedic surgery, which is often due to a lack of guided, structured and progressive exercise therapy. Exercise therapy is an effective adjunct to physiotherapy, osteopathy, chiropractic and orthopaedic surgery. In addition, it is regarded as a safe and effective medicine for a host of conditions including psychiatric, cardiovascular, and metabolic disorders.
Exercise Therapy may be the missing link to your recovery
Unfortunately exercise often carries the stigma of being arduous and uncomfortable, especially with people who are apprehensive due to pain or unfamiliarity. Exercise therapy has a number of differences to conventional exercise training. It is generally far more bespoke and gentle with the aim of leaving you feeling invigorated and more confident about your body. In some conditions Exercise therapy can be as effective as surgery, with the added benefit of improving your physical strength. In the context of sports injuries, exercise therapy can significantly reduce recovery time, improve sports performance and minimize the risk of re- injury .
Adequately prescribed and supervised exercise is rapidly becoming established as one of the most effective and safe medical interventions for a whole host of conditions, despite the lack of mergence between the healthcare and fitness industries . As a Healthcare and Exercise Professional I am at the forefront of this much needed marriage and continue to achieve excellent results in Guernsey with people who haven’t yet achieved suitable results from other treatments.
So if you’ve tried different therapies but are still experiencing aches, pains and disability, maybe it’s time to try an approach that not only resolves pain, but also improves your overall health, physical ability and confidence. If you want to know more, get in touch to see how I can help you.
